Climate

Because of its location on the exposed east coast, and the adjacent Labrador current, St. John's is subject to variable conditions: In early August the normal temperatures are:
high = 20°C, low = 11°C. (68°F - 51°F)
Delegates who wish to take a boat tour - and it is certainly worth doing so – are strongly advised to wear warm clothing. It is always cold ‘on the water’ and viewing whales is better from the deck of a boat than from its cabin! A very warm sweater (or two - but why not buy a wonderful locally handknit one while you’re here?) and a squall jacket, with hat or hood, will make your trips and voyages very much more comfortable.
